What travel documents are required for children and babies (under 2 years old)?

Children also need a valid identity document with a photo. A birth certificate alone is not sufficient. You can apply for this identity document at your local council office.

Important: Apply for the identity document at least 15 days before your departure. Without a valid identity document, you won't be able to pass border control.

Validity period

Your identity card (including children's documents) must be valid at least until your return date. The required validity period varies by country.
