Tips for your stay in Casablanca
Enjoy Morocco’s scents and colours
Casablanca is a city that will stimulate all your senses. Enjoy the lovely scent of fresh spices at the Central Market and try the delicious food in the stalls. There are no souqs here like in Marrakech, but the Habous quarter does boast many authentic shops, offering traditional babouches (pointy slippers), tajines and antiques to dates, nuts and spices … browse around and become familiar with the bargaining game.Sights in Casablanca: our top 3
Whether you have seen the movie Casablanca or not, you will immediately be attracted to this city. It is a real city of culture many travellers appreciate! These are our 3 favourite sights:1. Hassan II Mosque is all about superlatives. It is the second largest mosque in the world. Its minaret is the world’s tallest. And 25,000 worshippers can gather for prayer inside the mosque hall! It also houses a museum, a madrasa, baths and a library.
2. The Old Medina is centrally located by the sea and next to Casablanca’s most important market square. The historical city centre, partly enclosed by a wall, is perfect for strolling through the narrow alleys brimful of shops and cosy cafés. So booking a flight to Casablanca is more than worth it.
3. The Jewish Museum is the only one in the Arab-speaking world. It is a classic example of the historically good relationships between Judaism and Islam in Morocco. The exhibitions teach you everything about the Jewish history of the country.
